Shape Architecture continues to undertake basement extensions in Hammersmith and Fulham. This project incorporates a new basement extension with front and rear lightwells and provides a large family room, bedroom, bathroom and various other storage spaces.

- Glass partitions separate spaces while letting natural light in
As with other basement extensions much effort is made in filling the interior with natural light. A generous circulation space and the use of internal glazed screens has helped to ensure the heart of the basement is filled with light. Other rooms, front and rear, connect directly to the outside and are naturally ventilated and filled with light.
Computer modelling helped in exploring how natural light can be brought into the basement, and provided a clear method by which this could be explored and illustrated to our Client. Particularly in relation to the connecting stairs and the glazed screens giving onto the basement corridor.
