Fulham Basement Conversion: Parsons Green
Shape Architecture has started work on a new Fulham basement conversion on Parsons Green. The project has been awarded through client recommendation, following the completion of a similar basement project nearby.
Fulham Architects
The brief for this project mirrors many basement conversions in Fulham that we have completed over the last couple of years. The accommodation includes a new basement with associated light wells. Also included in the project are extensions at ground floor and loft level alongside complete internal refurbishment. Our basement extensions and whole house conversions in the ‘alphabet streets’ in Fulham have been constructed on the basis of very similar briefs.
Basement Extensions in Fulham
Of key importance in the design of the basement conversion will be the use of natural light and the creation of a sense of space. These are the starting points alongside the views and glimpses between spaces, for all our basement conversion projects. A key decision relating to these points is the location of the new stair connecting basement and ground floor. Here the issues of light, space and views come together alongside the creation of a feature element within the basement conversion. Many of our Fulham basement conversions have featured elegant internal stairs in this manner.
Fulham Basement Conversions: Energy Efficiency
As with all our basement conversions in London, Shape Architecture will look at ways in which energy consumption can be addressed. We have over sixteen years of experience in designing and constructing energy efficient buildings and can offer ideas and advice across the full range of measures that can be considered. These range from strategic design decisions in respect of the amount of natural light brought into the interior to the specification of energy efficient glazing and the use of water saving and electricity saving fittings.
