    Garden Rooms by Shape Architecture

Our latest garden room in Fulham is now complete.  As with all our garden rooms it is an individual and elegant structure suited to our Clients needs and the nature of its garden setting.

Below we describe several other garden rooms that give an idea of the variety designs we have produced.

    Fulham Garden Studio

Working very closely with our client, this studio space is a brickwork construction and is flooded with natural light to make an extremely enjoyable workspace.  The brickwork is chosen carefully and well detailed.  The glazed screen and door are notable for their narrow framing, adding to the elegance of the structure.  Large format rooflights help create the sense of openness.  The project is a success and serves to provide additional space in a way in which an extension may not.

    Hammersmith Garden Studio with Link

This studio is very different.  Its key difference and what makes it stand out form most similar garden structures is that it incorporates a physical link between  the garden studio and the apartment it serves, across the garden.  Our clients can walk back and forth in all weathers and even sit in this glazed link and  enjoy the garden.  The roof form has been carefully considered as it is overlooked by a number of houses.  The geometry and mix of glazed and green roofs have served to create a very interesting roof form.  The design has gained planning permission.

    Hove Garden Studio

This garden studio is highly individual and inspired by our Client’s interest in Gaudi.  The roof form reflects a geometry that interested our Client and was explored extensively using 3D computer modelling.  It is a bit smaller than our other garden rooms but given its design and its location at the end of a long and terraced garden, it is a lovely space. The design has gained planning permission.

    The EcoShed

Sixteen years ago we designed the EcoShed for our clients, a local charity.  Our Director Jason had previously designed another EcoShed for them several years earlier.  This structure sits in the corner of a public park in Hammersmith and is Shape Architectures first ‘Garden Room’ .  It shares all the same issues of creative design, material choice and site location.  It explored issue of sustainability as a core requirement of the brief.  Hence a rubble roof whereby all excavated material was kept on the site on the roof.  The structure itself was made off site and delivered onto a series of footings.  All to reduce its carbon footprint.
