London Roof Terrace Extensions
This week has been a busy week for roof terrace projects at Shape Architecture. We have been commissioned on two, asked to quote for another and submitted a planning application on another.
Wandsworth Roof Terrace
Our appointment for this roof terrace project follows an extensive dialogue with our client. Here prior to being appointed we discussed in detail with our prospective client the planning issues surrounding roof terrace extensions. We outlined the advantages of the pre-app route whereby he could ‘test the water’ with a pre-app prior to deciding whether it was worth preparing and submitting a full application. Our client was able to point to a number of roof terraces in the surrounding streets, which we then checked on the local authority planning website to see if they were granted permission and once we established this our client decided he would proceed with a pre-app submission and has commissioned us on that basis.
Notting Hill Roof Terrace
This roof terrace first came to us a year ago from a developer client who has now decided to move forward with the project. We are now about to visit site to carry out a dimensional survey following which we will prepare a series of plans and elevations forming a series of measured survey drawings. This we issue to our client as a PDF brochure and then move onto the design of number of design options for discussion with our client prior to drawing up the preferred scheme and submitting it for a Pre-App.
Fulham Roof Terrace
Our roof terrace in New Kings Road has now been submitted for planning. As with a number of our roof terrace projects this one is to an upper floor flat. The addition of external space to a flat is transformative. Here we have started the process by preparing simple studies to enable our client to talk to their freeholder. Following this a pre-app was carried out to inform the final design and submission of a full application.
