• Our 19th Year as a Chartered RIBA Architectural Practice

2025 Marks Our 19th Year as a Chartered RIBA Architectural Practice.

Our founding Director Jason Wren established Shape Architecture to bring a creative client focused approach to residential and community projects.

In each sector we have continued to undertake projects of all sizes throughout London and Brighton.

Over the last nineteen years we have established longstanding relationships with a variety of fellow consultants ranging from structural and services engineers to interior designers and party wall surveyors.  We also enjoy similar relationships with a range of planning authorities and building control companies and a wide variety of building contractors too.

    Depth of Experience

Nineteen years in practice has resulted in a rich and diverse portfolio of work coupled with many areas of specialisation.  This too is of great benefit to our clients.  Prior to establishing Shape Architecture our Director, Jason spent ten years working on a range of notable sustainable buildings and our portfolio continues to demonstrate this depth of knowledge.  Our first eco roof was some sixteen years ago where we installed a rubble roof from reclaimed rubble to a community building in a London park. Many of our buildings continue to incorporate green roofs.  We have gained a reputation for basement projects having worked on over 30.  The success of these is a combination of technical knowledge, creativity and a good team.  The creative approach often centres around the use of natural light, glass and transparency.  Our work is known for this approach.  We very often incorporate feature stairs into these projects and again our portfolio of work is full of distinctive stairs.  We have continued to design a wide range of roof terraces over our nineteen years, ranging from the grade 2 listed Florin Court to many terraced houses and our recent roof terrace to a house in Brighton where access is gained via a sliding glass cube.  If roof terraces add valuable outdoor space then garden rooms are equally valuable in adding spaces to work and play.  Our portfolio has very many distinct and original garden rooms.  Contemporary light filled interiors characterise our work and this is also the case when we are working on listed buildings.  Once more over our nineteen years we have worked on a large number of such projects throughout London, Brighton and Hove.  Ranging from opening up a serif small rooms into larger spaces more suited to modern living to adding roof terraces and basements.  A large part of our work involves interior design and this is very often the design of bespoke furniture.  From wardrobes to a flat in Grosvenor Square to vanity units in Fulham and kitchens in Hove, we have designed most types of bespoke furniture.  Our portfolio of community projects ranges from small recycled ‘Eco sheds’ in Hammersmith to a large community centre for a charity in Colchester. Very often following a sustainable brief and creative in their design and use of materials,  this is a sector we very much enjoy working in.  Common to all is our clear communication through drawing and the use of computer modelling.  This enables us to explore how spaces work and the play of light, glimpses, views and the flow between rooms.  All the aspects of architecture that we enjoy and which contribute to a successful project.

All of the above serves to transform our clients homes and this has been recognised by the Royal Institute of British Architects who in their publication ‘ House goals: Work with Architects; transform your home’ asked Shape Architecture to contribute a project.  We were one of only 30 UK practices chosen.

    The Future 2025

As 2025 begins the range of projects in the office reflects the description above.  Some have just been surveyed, others are in for planning or have started on site.  We look forward to working on them all.

If you have a project in mind please feel free to contact us We would be happy to discuss this with you.
