• Planning Permission in Eastbourne and Fulham Site Progress

Eastbourne Arts and Crafts Residential Extension and Refurbishment

Shape Architecture has gained planning permission for the extension and refurbishment of a prominent Arts and Crafts house in Eastbourne.  This was a complex planning permission given the nature of the building and the extent of redevelopment.  We were nonetheless successful at our first application.

The addition of both side and rear extensions serves to create a contemporary living and dining spaces.  The permission also includes an extension over several storeys to the front elevation.  At each floor the interior was re-arranged to provide a better standard of accommodation and improved flow between spaces.  All filled with natural light through a series of rooflights.

Fulham wrap around extension to Ground Floor Flat

Progress on site for this wrap around extension in Fulham is going well.  Demolition is complete and the foundations and steels are going in.

This extension totally transforms the ground floor flat. Contemporary and light filled, the extension creates a spacious kitchen and living space with excellent physical and visual connection with the garden. The material treatment of the roof is of interest, as where we often use green sedum roofs with rooflights set within, here the approach sees a largely glazed roof providing a strong feeling of space and openness and flooding the interior with natural light. As soon as you enter the space you are very aware of the garden and the play of light and shadow.
