Ellerby Street 02
Fulham
Private Residential | Basement
Our Fulham basement extension in Ellerby street is one of thirty basement projects that Shape Architecture has undertaken throughout London and one of fifteen undertaken in Fulham. We have put together a brochure of these 30 basements and you are able to download this by clicking on the adjacent image.
This second basement project is the neighbouring property to our first and our appointment was on the basis of client recommendation.
The pattern of development follows the same brief.
Lower ground floor redesign
A feature of the project is the basement stair linking kitchen to basement which was set below a large format rooflight to flood the heart of the basement with natural light and provide for natural ventilation. Around this the composition was further developed to allow the study room at the front of the property to have views across the stair void towards the garden.
Creating space and light
The stair itself is an elegant structure designed with the site joiner. The stair leading from the rear lightwell up into the garden works equally well with patterned glass platform forming a lid to part of the lightwell.
