Herne Hill

Shape Architecture’s housing project in Herne Hill.
This property occupies a prominent corner position that is bounded on one side by a strong rhythm of turn of the century terraced houses and on the side by 1960’s council housing.
Our project had to address this diverse setting
It does so with a brick façade that developed the rhythm of the terrace set behind which are balcony spaces with contemporary glazing and façade treatment. This then turns at the corner to become the predominant elevational language.
As with many of our projects the roof is a green sedum roof with many rooflights set within to ensure natural light is brought into the heart of each flat.
