Today we review a series of projects within the The City of Westminster. We have had many projects in the Westminster over the years and continue to enjoy a variety of work in this borough, ranging from small works to apartments to large full house refurbishments; below are some select examples:

Westminster Townhouse

Shape Architecture’s large house refurb and extension in Westminster is now on-site. The project concerns a three-storey extension to a Grade 2 listed house and the compete internal refurbishment of the property. During this period of works, Shape Architecture visits site on a regular basis to review works and answer questions arising and generally provide support to our client. The scheme involves a new structural steel frame allowing for a lift to be installed. The scheme involves sensitivity with its listing as well as working with the Grosvenor estate. In both respects Shape Architecture have a wealth of experience.

Westminster Apartments

As well as large scale works Shape Architecture have also undertaken extensive Flat Refurbishments in the Borough. Working in Grosvenor Square and St. James’s Place, full refurbishments were undertaken to upgrade older demises. The projects themselves required communication with the Grosvenor Estate and proved successful projects. Shape Architecture, working alongside interior designers and M & E consultants and specialist joiners saw the delivery of high-end residential living space at the heart of London.

Westminster Mews House

Mews House redevelopment has proved a common project for Shape Architecture in this region and our catalogue includes several. One, which has been recently completed is a project in Huntsworth Mews. The scheme saw the alteration of the dwelling to create a ground floor Kitchen, Living & Dining area, where originally there was a Garage and the addition of two new bedrooms, and an en-suite.

Listed Building Works

As a practice, we have a wide range of experience in dealing with listed building works of all types and size. This thorough understanding of the heritage asset, largely due to the extensive experience in areas like Westminster, has spread across to other projects outside of London. Our works typically involve contemporary additions to these buildings, and these variously include greens sedum roofs and extensive glazing.
