Redesdale Street
Our project at Redesdale Street project showcases Shape Architecture’s expertise in elegant and creative design. This basement project features a simple yet sophisticated lower ground floor layout, with a side return extension forming a well-defined living, kitchen, and dining space. A striking feature is the central kitchen island, which aligns with the stairs and kitchen wall units, creating a distinct kitchen zone. The space is enhanced by a large roof light above the dining area, full-height glass screens, and a glass platform that seamlessly connects the interior to the garden. Energy-efficient measures, including high levels of natural daylight and improved thermal insulation, further contribute to the home’s sustainable design.
Rugby Road
Our project at Rugby Road in Brighton highlights Shape Architecture’s ability to transform a typical home into a light-filled, contemporary space. The brief called for a side extension and the reconfiguration of a cluttered interior to improve the connection to the garden. The resulting design exceeded expectations, with a full-height glazed window merging into a rooflight, set within a Sedum roof that enhances the garden setting while providing ecological benefits. The once separate kitchen and dining areas are now an expansive, open space with elegant glazed doors that seamlessly connect the interior to the garden. The extension of large format kitchen tiles onto the terrace further reinforces the indoor-outdoor connection, creating a cohesive and inviting living area.
