A Community Project at Peacehaven, on the East Sussex Coastline
As we are about to begin on site with our community centre in Colchester, we have re-worked the model and animation for the community project in Peacehaven. Both are for local charities and make a marked difference to the services each charity is able to offer to its community. Whilst the project in Colchester is in quite a busy urban setting, the Peacehaven Community Centre was built on land to the rear of a shop in more suburban site.
It is a simple and striking form and features a double height entrance area where the stair is located, all of which is flooded with light from a large, glazed screen.
Natural light is brought into all interior spaces, either through windows or else a large number of rooflights and this includes back of house spaces such as storage rooms and kitchenettes.
The project also has its space heating provided by an Air Source Heat pump located on the side elevation.
Working as community architects Shape Architecture would be happy to talk to any community organisation about their projects, big or small.
