This year has been very busy for Shape Architecture working throughout London . As ever it has followed our interest in working on the broadest spectrum of work of all types and size.
Below we describe a variety of our projects undertaken in 2024.
Fulham Basement Extension
Our basement on at St Maur Road near Parsons Green is nearing completion. The brief was to rework a house presently divided into flats into a family home and increase its size with the addition of basement extension, side and rear extension and further upper level development to include a new study giving onto a roof terrace.
An important element of the design is the integration of and the flow between spaces. The basement extension for example is linked to the kitchen and dining room above by a feature stair which effectively connects the two levels and does so in an elegant and interesting way.
A further feature is the extensive use of glass to create a light filled and contemporary interior. We have worked with the glazing company Maxlight to create a continuous glazed roof to the side extension.
Battersea Roof Terrace
Our roof terrace project in Battersea is now complete. The additional outdoor space added to this terraced house has transformed how our clients enjoy their home. A glazed roof over the access to the terrace floods the interior with light and helps integrate the roof terrace with the existing spaces. We continue to undertake roof terrace projects across London to houses of all types and size.
Putney Extension in a Conservation Area
This project in Dover House Road is, as the project in Ealing below, a relatively simple extension that serves to transform the property creating a light, bright contemporary interior. The roof is finished in green sedum with an elegant roof light set within.
Ealing Extension
Our extension to a house in Hanwell serves to transform the kitchen, living and dining space and improves the connection between the inside and outside. We undertake many such projects throughout London. As with many it is often the roof form that adds considerable interest to the design
Westminster and Kensington Mews projects
These mews projects being undertaken in parallel both see the conversion of integral garages into habitable space to transform the ground floor layouts and create contemporary living spaces.
Fulham wrap around extension
This side and rear extension is now nearing completion. It features an entirely glazed roof which floods the interior with light and provides engaging views of the established garden trees. Much work had to be undertaken with building control to demonstrate a variety of energy upgrades that would allow so much glass the be incorporated into the project.
Fulham Mews Houses
Here we are working on a scheme of six proposed house on a mixed residential and commercial site. Careful consideration of the massing, design and materials is key to the success of this project. As is its impact in terms of daylight and sunlight on neighbouring properties and within the site. 3D models have helped explore all these issues.
Shape Architecture in 2025. We hope the above gives an ideas as to the type of work we undertake throughout London . If you are considering transforming your home in 2025 we would be very happy to talk to you.
